A Century of Service and Support

In the fall of 1898, a group of 12 former students of Texas A&M College gathered in Bryan, Texas, to form the Association of Former Students (AFS). Their purpose was to create an organization that would support the college and its students.

Over the past century, the AFS has grown from a small group of alumni to a powerful organization that supports the university in a variety of ways. The AFS provides scholarships, funds faculty research, and supports student organizations and activities.

The AFS is also a strong advocate for Texas A&M University. The organization works to promote the university's reputation and to ensure that it has the resources it needs to continue to be a top-tier institution.

The Early Years

The early years of the AFS were marked by a focus on social activities and camaraderie. The organization held annual reunions and other events that brought former students together.

In 1906, the AFS began publishing the Texas A&M Magazine, which has become one of the most respected alumni magazines in the country.

The AFS also played a role in the development of Texas A&M's athletic program. In 1909, the organization helped to fund the construction of Kyle Field, the university's football stadium.

The Modern Era

In the modern era, the AFS has continued to grow and evolve. The organization has expanded its focus to include a wider range of activities, including:
